URBAN AGENDA

Michigan's Urban Areas have been attacked and neglected in the Republican led Legislature. With the implementation of an Emergency Manager, in cities such as Detroit, Benton Harbor, Pontiac, and Highland Park, Democracy has been threatened.

The elected officials that citizens have chosen, almost become null and void due to restrictions of the Emergency Manager Law.

The cities that are named are Urban Areas with a predominantly ethnic population.

Durhal is OPPOSED to the Emergency Manager Law and will work tirelessly to Repeal all Emergency Manager Acts.

Within these Urban Areas are distressed School Districts as well. With the implementation of EAA in our schools, are students have no become subject to an education that is not provided by certified educators. The distressed school districts, usually receive a lower Per Pupil allocation while the average household income in $30,000 or less. Students are subject to disadvantage when investment in Public Schools is less to none.

In Urban Areas as well, Auto Insurance is at an all-time high. In many areas, particularly the city of Detroit, there are residents who pay more for their Auto Insurance than they pay for their Automobiles on a monthly basis. Although Redlining is supposed to be illegal, high insurance rates plague our citizens who find it difficult to maintain the basic necessities in their lives because of high rates. In Lansing, Durhal will work to lower the insurance rates in Detroit and other urban areas.

In Michigan, there has to be investment in our Urban Areas.

In the State Capitol, Durhal will:

- Work to make sure for the first time Michigan has and Urban Agenda that will address issues for all Michigan's cities.

- Oppose Emergency Manager Legislation and will work to Repeal Emergency Manager Public Acts.

- Fight to Repeal the EAA

- Fight to lower Auto Insurance rate and stop redlining in Detroit and other Urban areas.
