Every Citizen in City of Detroit and across the State of Michigan deserves to feel safe and be safe. Public Safety is one of the top issues facing our communities.
Fred Durhal believes that we can make our neighborhoods safer if we invest more State Dollars into our inner cities and properly fund public safety. He will fight on the state level, to provide funds to hire and put more officers on the street.
Durhal is OPPOSED to the drastic cuts to Public Safety. The cuts are hurting cities and municipalities across our State.
When Statutory Revenue Sharing was removed from cities and municipalities, particularly the City of Detroit, it sent cities into a financial crisis which makes it difficult to fund public safety services, such as; Police, Fire, and EMS.
Durhal will fight to have Detroit's Revenue Sharing restored because he understands it is a vital asset to the City's survival.
In Lansing, Durhal will:
- Support legislation providing funding to help more cities provide more Police Officers, more EMS and Fire equipment.
- Support legislation to provide funding to increase the pay of our Public Safety Workers.
- Fight for additional Revenue Sharing to improve public safety.
- Fight against any cuts to Public Safety.
